Aiken

Westell Signore Aiken, 91, of New Castle Road, Slippery Rock, formerly of New Castle, died at 1:50 p.m. Friday at Grove City Medical Center.

He was born in Port Allegany on Oct. 30, 1915. He was the son of the Rev. Walter Aiken and Ina Timbe

Mr. Aiken was married to Beulah Beerbower Aiken on Jan. 9, 1930. She preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 1994.

He graduated from New Castle High School in 1939.

He was self-employed. Along with his wife, they owned and operated Westell's Bicycles on East Washington Street in New Castle for 62 years. He retired at age 78.

He was the oldest member of Arlington Avenue Free Methodist Church in New Castle.

He was an Army veteran.

He was a former member of the Auxiliary Police in New Castle.

He is survived by two daughters, Alice Marie Baker of New Castle and Marcia and her husband, Donald Carnahan, of Slippery Rock; four grandchildren, Marilyn (Joseph) Moore of Colorado Springs, Colo., Traci (David) Foster of Grove City and Richard "Jr." (Ginger) Walters and Rachel (William) Chamberlain, both of Slippery Rock; three step-grandchildren, Debbie Carnahan Bassett of Loveland, Colo., Cheryl Carnahan (Tim) Gallagher of Hurricane, W.Va., and Leslie Carnahan (Tucker) Drennen of Niwot, Colo.; eight great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Granger; a brother, Harold Aiken; and a son-in-law, Clifford Baker

<B>Aiken</B> — A private burial service for Westell Signore Aiken, who died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, was held at Wolf Creek Cemetery.A public memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at <B>Arlington Avenue Free Methodist Church</B>, 765 Arlington Ave., New Castle, with the Rev. Chris Schumske, church pastor, officiating.Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
