Justin Stadelmyer's fifth-place time of 18 minutes, 15 seconds led the Mars boys cross country team to a second-place finish at the MAC Invitational Tuesday.

The Planets finished with a score of 75, six points behind West Allegheny.

Chris Alakhani (14th), Brandon Stadelmyer (16th), Nick Edinger (17th) and Mike Lewis (23rd) all finished in the top 25 for Mars.

On the girls side, Samantha Brandon placed 16th at 22:55 as the Planets ended in fourth place with a score of 128, 46 behind champion West Allegheny.

Also placing in the top 25 for the Planets were Gabri Pierre (22nd) and Lauren Pecor (23rd).

Elissa McCune scored a first-half goal and keeper Ali Doyle made it stand up as Slippery Rock edged Wilmington 1-0.Mel Prelec got the assist on McCune's score and Doyle did the rest, recording 15 saves for the Rockets (10-0-1).

Grove City's Derek Forese carded an even-par 72 to finish third in the District 10 match Tuesday at Grove City Country Club. Forese qualified for the Western Regional slated for Monday at Tom's Run in Blairsville.Mike Klaric of Kennedy Catholic shot a 70 to win the district. Gregor Orlando of Erie Cathedral Prep was second with a 71.Slippery Rock's Jeff Tracy tied for eighth with a 76.The Rockets' Jenna Rinker placed second in the district girls competition, carding an 80 at Riverside Golf Club in Cambridge Springs. She will compete in the girls regional Monday at Tom's Run.

Seneca Valley's Matt Vogt (88) and Andrew Tang (91) both missed the cut at the District 7 Championships held at Latrobe Country Club. Neither will advance to regionals.
