Wagner

Leo Louis Wagner (Wozniak), 91, of Clay Township, formerly of Pittsburgh, died early Sunday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center, following an extended illness.

Born April 4, 1916, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Louis W. and Helen Strzyzewski Wozniak.

He married Eleanor Francis Szewczyk Shaffer on Oct. 18, 1941. She preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 1992.

Mr. Wagner retired from Bon Aire Gas of Butler in 1977 where he worked as a propane gas delivery man. Prior to Bon Aire Gas, he worked at the C.G. Hussey Copper plant and for a butcher at the South Side Market, both in Pittsburgh.

Following his retirement, he worked at Pinkerton Security in Butler.

A Catholic, he was a former member of St. Louis Roman Catholic Church in West Sunbury.

Aveteran of the Army, he served in Germany during World War II.

He enjoyed building things and tinkering. He worked at carpentry and auto repair and enjoyed fishing and reading.

Surviving are three daughters, Patricia A. Christy and her husband, Monty, of Parker, Barbara J. Daniels, with whom he made his home in Butler, and Janet Eck of Slippery Rock; a son, Robert L. Wagner and his wife, Meredi, of Boise, Idaho; and a sister, Helen Forkin of Pittsburgh.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wagner was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Wagner; a grandson, Phillip; and a great-granddaughter, Victoria.

<B>WAGNER </B>— Friends of Leo Louis Wagner, who died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 W. New Castle St., Slippery Rock. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 Main St., Slippery Rock. The Rev. Matthew McClain will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
