Gerald J.Schnur Sr., 80, of Butler died Tuesday at his home.

Born in Butler Oct. 16, 1926, he was the son of William F. and Anna M. Spohn Schnur.

He retired from the Wise Machine Co., where he was employed as a welder for 25 years.

He was a master woodworker and carpenter.

Mr.Schnur served with the Army during World War II.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church and a Gold Card Member of the Roman Catholic Men's Club.

He was a life member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Co. and VFW Post 249.

Mr. Schnur is survived by his wife, Jean M. Mentzer Schnur, to whom he was married for 60 years and one day; a daughter, Linda Kriley of State College; two sons, Gerald J. Schnur Jr. of Illinois and Ernest E. Schnur of Butler; two brothers, Willis R. Schnur of Butler and Kenneth Schnur of Chicora; three sisters, Leola Sarver of Wexford, Mary Schnur of Butler and Mrs. Arthur (Ethel)Miller of Butler; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

<B>Schnur</B> — Friends of Gerald J. Schnur Sr., who passed away Tuesday Aug 28, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary of the AssumptionRoman Catholic Church with the Rev. Victor Kriley, OFM Cap., officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the AmericanCancer Society.Information can be found at www.martinfh.net
