Dean J. Link
Dean J. Link, 87, of 628 Todd Ave., Ellwood City, died at 8:20 a.m. Friday at Jameson Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 3, 1920, in Portersville, he was the son of Henry and Mary McDevitt Link.
He married Katherine Louise Ferruchie Link on Sept. 2, 1948, and she died in 2000.
He worked for National Plumbing for 21 years, then Hallstead Industries in Zelienople for 7½ years, and finally at Lincoln High School in maintenance for 14 years.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish.
He was a corporal in the army during World War II from Aug. 16, 1943, to March 19, 1946. He was in battles of Central Europe and Rhineland, was a light machine gun operator with Co. L 254th Infantry, and was awarded the combat infantry badge and distinguished unit badge for his actions during battle.
He is survived by a son, Ronald D. Link of Augustine, Fla.; four brothers and their spouses, Norman G. and Darleen Link of New Castle, Arthur and Theresa Link of Hilliards, Claire Link of Farrell, and David and Ruth Link of Portersville; four sisters and their spouses, Martha and William Smith of SlipperyRock, Janet and Richard Fleeger of Butler; Doris and Leonard Chuba of Butler, and Margaret "Peg" Arblaster of Hilliards; a granddaughter, Melanie Link of Ellwood City; a grandson, Ronald Link of Lakeworth Fla.; and a great-grandson, Jimmy Dashield of Ellwood City.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Clayton, Victor, Laverne and Raymond Link; and two sisters, Mildred Stewart and Mary Shinsky.
<B>LINK</B>— Friends of Dean J.Link, who died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the <B>Samuel Teolis Funeral Home</B>, 309 Spring Ave., Ellwood City.Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Purification BVM Church. Those attending the funeral are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:20 a.m. Tuesday as the procession to the church will begin at 9:30 a.m.Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.Members of the veterans' honor guard are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. Tuesday to conduct full military rites.
