Catherine C. DiGiacomo, 89, of the YWCA Personal Care Residence, formerly of Glenn Avenue and the Butler Arbors, died Thursday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 12, 1917, in Erie, she was the daughter of Egisto and Alice Baldassare Spinetti and was raised in Cabot.

She married Peter P. DiGiacomo on Oct. 18, 1939. He died May 11, 1992, in an automobile accident.

Mrs. DiGiacomo was a former school crossing guard in Butler and retired from the Sunnyview Home.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

Kate, as she was known to her friends, enjoyed playing cards and bingo and spending time with her great-grandson.

She is survived by a son, Leonard E. DiGiacomo and his wife, Rose Ann, of Butler; a daughter, Linda and her husband, Larry Dorenkamp, of Butler; a granddaughter, Lisa and her husband, Bill Povlick, of Butler; a grandson, Larry Dorenkamp and his wife, Kelly, of Franklin Park; a great-grandson, Brayden Povlick of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.

<B>DIGIACOMO</B> — Friends of Catherine C. DiGiacomo, who died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. James Dolan officiating. Burial will be at the St. Michael Cemetery.The Bereavement Group of St. Michael Parish will hold a scriptural wake service at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
