Betty Corey's letter to the editor

Betty Corey, in her letter to the editor, asks why I do not "recognize life in the womb as a scientific fact." I have at no time claimed to dispute the fact that an embryo (or fetus) is a living organism. My support for abortion rights stems from the fact that an embryo or fetus is completely physiologically connected and contained within another organism (i.e. the woman in whose uterus which contains it). During the time that a fetus remains physiologically connected to another organism, it has no rights and the woman who is carrying the fetus should be the only decision maker regarding the pregnancy's outcome.
