'Chuck' delivers lowbrow laughs

This romantic comedy doesn't need to earn a penny at the box office to turn a handsome profit.

Featuring as many bare breasts as a year's worth of Playboy magazines — so many, in fact, that several times the screen has to be divided into quadrants so we can ogle more than one topless woman at a time — this thing is going to sell a zillion DVDs to teenage boys who will wear out the freeze-frame buttons on their remote controls.

The premise: An urban legend builds that if Chuck (Dane Cook, "Employee of the Month") has sex with a woman, the next person she dates will turn out to be Mr. Right. Soon buxom young women are lining up outside his door, and he does his best to give them what they want.

Then he falls hard for Cam (Jessica Alba, TV's "Dark Angel"), which produces a dilemma: If he sleeps with her, he'll likely lose her to the next guy she meets. But he can only stall so long before she's going to start thinking that there's something wrong with him.

Alba, demonstrating a knack for physical humor, generates 95 percent of the laughs. Cam is a klutz who lurches from one pratfall to the next.

Cook has a nice comic personality, but zilch in the way of comic material. But then, it's not as if any of those teenage boys are going to care.
