SV is asking for 7% over 5 years. I pay taxes too, so I guess I pay my own salary, not you Janet, according to your analogy. Butler teachers do pay a percent of thier benefit premiums. I'm sure SV will do so also, times have changed. I have a learning disabled child and I know how grateful I am of all the teachers who care so much for him and do everything they can to help him succeed. If you think the local teachers around here make so much money, you should check out the south. They pay twice as much and they recruit heavily from northern educated graduates, especially PA. Slippery Rock graduates are one of the most sought out graduates in our region. About 4 years ago, Verison Wireless was hiring CSR's at a starting salary of 28000. no degree required, just two years experience. That was about the same as a 1st year teacher. Just a little point of reference. I know personally, the top three things I want my tax dollars going to...police, fire, and public school. I am not a teacher, I do work in the school. Take care everyone and God bless.
