Grove City defeated by CMU, 16-6

PITTSBURGH — Despite outgaining Carnegie Mellon in offensive yards, the Grove City College football team fell to the Tartans, 16-6 Saturday at Gesling Stadium.

The Wolverines' defense held Carnegie Mellon to just 214 yards and 11 first downs, but Grove City could not hang on to a 6-2 halftime lead.

Senior linebacker Bill Waugh tallied 13 tackles and senior wingback Ian Tobin caught 13 passes to tie the school's single-game record.

Senior tailback Matt Weil tallied Grove City's lone score, a 1-yard touchdown plunge.

Sophomore quarterback Andrew DiDonato completed 25 of 40 passes for 238 yards.

Rich Mazzocca and Mike Cuscino both carded an 83 to lead the Butler County Community College men's golf team to a second-place performance out of four teams Saturday at Norvelt Country Club outside of Greensburg.The Pioneers ended with a 335, 14 strokes behind Westmoreland County Community College (321).Keith Rice added an 84 for BC3, Greg Hilscher an 85, David Hughes a 95 and Tony Manfred a 98.
