Regis J. Baptiste, 70, of Butler died Tuesday at the Sunnyview Home.

Born Jan. 6, 1937, in Butler, he was a son of Maximillian "Max" and Elsie Spohn Baptiste.

He was a member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Department and American Legion Post 117 in Butler.

Surviving are three sons, Mark R. Baptiste of Butler, Darrin J. Baptiste of Weirton, W.Va., and Dana R. Baptiste of Butler; a daughter, Mrs. Dale R. "Butch" (Colleen L.) Wadding of Dayton, Pa.; a granddaughter, Amber C. Wadding of Dayton; a grandson, Devon J. (Brittany) Baptiste of Butler; a great-granddaughter, Karma C. Baptiste; and a brother, Kenneth Baptiste of Butler.

His wife, Lawana B. McClanahan Baptiste, whom he married Feb. 20, 1960, died Jan. 13, 2007. He also was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.
