Basil T. Tichansky, 81, of Buena Vista, Fairview Township, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Pittsburgh, Jan. 16, 1926, he was the son of Joseph and Suzanna Tichansky.

He had been a cabinet maker for Stein Cabinets in Pittsburgh for years. He then operated a subsidiary of Kraft Foods in Pittsburgh and retired in 1996.

Surviving are his wife, Dolores Brula Tichansky, whom he married July 30, 1955; two sons, Ted and Gary Tichansky, both of Chicora; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two siblings, Mary and Andy Tichansky, both of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

<B>TICHANSKY</B> — Friends of Basil T. Tichansky, who died Sunday, July 29, 2007, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. A blessing service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David DeWitt, pastor of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church of Chicora, officiating. Burial will be at the Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
