Monday — Police are investigating several recent acts of criminal mischief on the west side of town. Among the overnight vandalism on Pine, McKim and Hazel streets was the theft of lawn ornaments from several yards.Anyone with information about the cases, or to report suspicious activity, is asked to contact borough police by calling 724-452-3003 or 911.2:47 p.m. Friday — A teacher at St. Stephens Academy at 500 W. Beaver St. reported during the last two weeks that someone broke into several sheds on the property that are used for the school's outdoor classes. The sheds were found in major disarray, but the only items found missing were 15 pairs of binoculars.11:05 a.m. Friday — A 15-year-old Zelienople Park Pool worker reported the theft of his mountain bicycle, which was discovered missing at the end of his shift. The park is off East Beaver Street.1:39 p.m. Thursday — A Harmony street department employee reported that a tractor trailer truck damaged two signs while making an illegal turn. The bill for the damages, valued at $137, will be sent to the trucking company by the borough, police said.3:05 p.m. Wednesday — The trailer of a truck driven by Theamon E. Hicks, 61, of Youngstown, Ohio, collided with a vehicle driven by Rudolf K. Diesing, 27, of Beaver, Beaver County, causing minor damage. No injuries were reported.9:38 a.m. Aug. 20 — Erin M. Engel of Zelienople reported to police that $1,531 in fraudulent charges from Montreal were charged to her credit card.12:55 p.m. Aug. 17 — A vehicle driven by Peter Richard Andrews, 35, of Pittsburgh ran into the rear of a vehicle driven by Patricia Anne Grinnell, 51, of Harmony. Damage was reported to both vehicles, however, no one was injured. Police cited Andrews for driving without a license.
8:25 a.m. Monday — Acar driven by a Butler youth crashed into a guardrail on Route 422 near Route 528 in Franklin Township. The 16-year-old driver, who police did not identify, was cited for a lane violation,2:02 a.m. Monday — George E. Smith, 20, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 173 and Rocket Drive in Slippery Rock Township.Monday — An unknown suspect between July 30 and Monday cut a padlock to a storage unit and took an undisclosed item at Clearfield Storage on Route 422 in Clearfield Township. The item, owned by a Fenelton man, however, was found behind the storage facility.
10 a.m. Sunday — Acow escaped a pasture and tried to cross to the other side of the road but was hit by a car on Todd Road in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County.The front of the Dodge Neon struck the cow; however, neither driver David Grossman, 21, of Harrisville, nor a 21-year-old Grove City woman riding in the car, was injured.Apolice report noted that the car sustained major damage, but mentioned nothing of the cow's fate.
