Lynn Luanne Thompson, 46, of Butler died Thursday at her home.

Born Nov. 8, 1960, in Butler, she was the daughter of Paul C. Plaisted and Mildred Shoaf Plaisted of Butler.

She was a 1978 graduate of Butler High School and graduated magna cum laude from Grove City College with a chemical engineering degree. She received her master's in physical science from Slippery Rock University, where she was named Outstanding Graduate Student.

She had been a professor of chemistry and metrology for 25 years at Butler County Community College. She was a member of the American Chemical Society, and was the first full-time professor hired for the fledgling metrology program at BC3. She was a teacher extraordinaire.

In addition to teaching, some of Lynn's achievements at BC3 include developing five chemistry classes for Internet delivery, coauthoring a lab book used in Chemistry I & II, initiating College Within the High School at Portersville Christian School, serving on the 1984 and 1994 Middle States Steering Committees, authoring the NAIT accreditation document, serving as vice president of the faculty organization, and others too numerous to list.

She was a member of the Community Alliance Church. She belonged to the Maqueda Chapter of the Eastern Star and was a board member of Portersville Christian School. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, scrap booking and listening to Christian music.

Surviving are her husband, Ronald E. Thompson, whom she married April 30, 1982; two daughters, Amber and Amy Thompson, both at home; two brothers, Jack and his wife, Carla, Plaisted of Butler and Dan and his wife, Lois, Plaisted of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

<B>THOMPSON</B>— Friends of LynnLuanne Thompson, who died Thursday, July 19, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>. Services will be held at the Community Alliance Church at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dennis Krajacic officiating.Burial will be in the North Side Cemetery.
