The Butler County Community College Board of Trustees Wednesday:• Announced the county commissioners approved Don Tylinski, superintendent of the Seneca Valley School District, and Eric Schultz, chief financial officer for the Center For Community Resources, to the BC3 board.• Announced that Beth Gazza, dean of nursing, and Bill Miller, dean of humanities, will work as interim vice presidents of academic affairs.• Reported that enrollment is up 3.1 percent from this time last year.
Butler County commissioners on Wednesday:• Approved an agreement with Slippery Rock to provide 2006 federal grant funds for improvements to Franklin Street. The $145,000 will be used to make the sidewalk handicap accessible.• Approved advertising for bids for Connoquenessing's sidewalk project. The 2005 federal funds will be used to make the sidewalk handicap accessible.• Approved a $7,598 deduct change order for the Harrisville storm sewer project. The total reduction is comprised of an $8,048 decrease due to unused materials and a $450 increase for additional labor to cut into an existing inlet.
The Saxonburg Area Authority board on Tuesday:• Hired Zachary Taylor, 22, of Jefferson Township, to be pump station technician. He replaces crew worker Christopher Lawrence, who resigned to take another job. Borough council approved the hiring on Aug. 1.
