Busch enjoys his trip to Pocono
With just five races remaining on the Nextel Cup Series schedule before the final field of 12 is set for the run at the 2007 title, Kurt Busch moved into contention by winning the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway Sunday.
Busch led all but 25 laps, winning his first Cup race since March 26, 2006, at Bristol.
Pole-sitter Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished second, followed by Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.
Busch's win vaulted him into the 12th spot in the current standings, dropping Earnhardt to the 13th position.
The Nextel Cup Series moves to Watkins Glen International to compete on the 2.45 mile road course at 1 p.m. Sunday.
After the Glen, it's Michigan, Bristol, California and Richmond for the Nextel Cup Series teams.
Jeff Gordon has a commanding lead over Denny Hamlin in the points chase. Matt Kenseth is third, Jeff Burton fourth and Tony Stewart fifth. Rounding out the top 12 are Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Martin Truex Jr. and Kurt Busch.

The young Late Model driver has had an outstanding seasonThe Sprint division championship has three drivers in contention. Current points leader Ed Lynch Jr. will have to hold off Rod George and Kevin Schaeffer to lay claim to the title.The Pure Stock division is wide open. Six drivers have a shot at the top spot, including current leader Mike Pegher Jr., Bob Egley, Greg Beach, Jason Fosnaught, Bob Lipinski, Paul Schreckengost and Joe Kelley.Friday is Nostalgia Night at the Action Track. Many former drivers will be on hand to sign autographs before the race program begins. Included in the 20 to 25 drivers slated to appear will be Johnny Axe, who won the first feature race at Lernerville in the late 1960s,A special show has been added to the schedule. On Aug. 16, NASCAR drivers Tony Stewart and Kenny Schrader will headline a Late Model division program with $3,000 going to the winner of the feature race.
• Tri-City Speedway was forced to cancel Sunday's race program because of rain. With just two points shows remaining, Rod George (Sprints) and Doug Iorio II (Pro Stocks) of Kennerdale have all but locked up the points championships.• Bob Felmlee won his seventh Sprint feature of the season at Sharon Speedway Saturday night. Del Rougeux won the 25-lap Modified division feature race, beating Brian Swartzlander to the checkered flag. Young Brandon Spithaler of Evans City won his heat race and placed third in the Limited Sprints feature.• Arnie Kent picked up a Sprint division feature win at Mercer Raceway Saturday night. Former Go-Kart racer Mike Anderson of Harmony earned his second win of the season in the Mini-Stock division.
