2:27 a.m. today — Jason Draper, 32, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Mercer Street. Police also cited Draper for driving with a suspended license and without valid inspection, a traffic light violation and possession of drug paraphernalia.
10:01 p.m. Friday — Police arrested four suspected illegal aliens traveling in a sport utility vehicle stopped for speeding on Route 8 at Kelly Chevrolet.The suspects include two men, 24 and 25, from Mexico; a 19 year-old man from Guatemala; and a 26-year-old woman from El Salvador. Police noted that the occupants were in a vehicle registered out of South Carolina and with Indiana license plates.All four suspects admitted they were in the United States illegally, police said, and were working for a Texas-based cleaning company."The subjects claimed they were all living together at an undisclosed location in Butler," a police report said.The suspects were placed in the Butler County Prison pending their release into the custody of federal immigration authorities.Butler Township police, assisted by Penn Township, continue to investigate the case.
Monday — Two dozen grinder hammers, valued at $4,368, were reported stolen from Fleishner Excavating on Lardintown Road in Clinton Township. Police later that same day recovered 14 of the hammers from a local salvage yard.5:15 p.m. Sunday — Four people were injured when a car driven by Hannah Stewart, 19, of Butler skidded off rain-soaked Staff Road near Route 528 in Brady Township and slammed head-on into a tree.Richard Osborne, 26, of Butler, a passenger in the car, suffered moderate injuries; Stewart and two other passengers, Shawn Blakley, 42, and Linda Williams, 44, both of Slippery Rock, suffered minor injuries.Police said all four occupants were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital; only Stewart was wearing a seat belt. Police cited Stewart for driving too fast for conditions.Sunday — A High Point 9 mm pistol was stolen between 7:20 and 9 p.m. in a burglary at the Rolling Acres home of Thomas Critchlow in Slippery Rock Township. The gun is valued at $420.Sunday — AYamaha YZ250 dirt bike was stolen between July 29 and Sunday from the New Castle Road home of Patrick Rodgers in Slippery Rock Township.Sunday — An unknown burglar between noon and 3:30 p.m. stole $200 in currency after breaking into the Beck Road home of Brian and Tracy Stewart in Summit Township.1:45 a.m. Thursday — Matthew Brenneman, 21, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle slid into a ditch along Eagle Mill Road in Connoquenessing Township.State Police, MercerSunday — A Dell laptop computer valued at $1,500 was stolen between 1 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 p.m. Sunday in a burglary at the Route 208 home of Matthew Gruntz in Springfield Township, Mercer County.
