John Bopp of Butler celebrated his 80th birthday recently with a surprise picnic at the home of his daughter. The event was given by his children Grace Merrill, Barbara Yadesky and Jasper Bopp, all of Butler. The picnic featured an 80 balloon send-off by four of his grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Bopp was born July 31, 1927, in Butler. He married Grace Bopp July 7, 1951.

He has nine children, 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Bopp is retired from Marmon-Keystone, where he worked as a truck driver. He is a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the French and Belgium Club.
