Alkire

Luther Alkire of Butler celebrated his 90th birthday with a family dinner Saturday at the Hardwood Cafe.

Alkire was born Aug. 4, 1917, in Peninsula, Ohio. He married Fanny VanBuren on Sept. 27, 1940.

He has four children, Lawrence Alkire of Batesville, Ark.; Darel Alkire of Hensley, Ark.; Norma Mustake of Lisbon, Ohio; and Debbie Paynter of Butler.

Two children, Sharon Columbus and Donna Alkire, are deceased.

He also has 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Alkire is a retired steamfitter. He enjoys lawn and garden work and reading.

He belongs to North Main Street Church of God.
