Guilty plea entered after attack at auto repair shop
CRANBERRY TWP — A township man has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge for punching a man at an auto repair garage on Freedom Road.
Thomas Tubridy Jr., 45, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a reduced charged of disorderly conduct before District Judge Kelley Streib. He was ordered to pay $195 in fines and court costs
He originally had been charged with aggravated assault. A second charge of possession of a controlled substance was withdrawn.
Police about 9:20 p.m. May 29 were called to UPMC Passavant Cranberry, where 69-year-old Robert Jemente had been taken for treatment of injuries he said he received in a fight at Tubridy's Garage at 1125 Freedom Road.
The property and garage is owned by Thomas Tubridy Sr.
Jemente had told police that earlier that day he had gone to the garage to have his truck repaired. But when he got out of his vehicle, court documents said, the defendant "cold-cocked me and then kicked me when I was on the ground."
Police said Jemente had a cut along the bridge of his nose, a swollen right eye, and a cut on the left side of his face. He also complained of pain to his head, chest, sternum and ribs.
