Tuesday — Police reported they are continuing to investigate the theft of nearly $1,300 in property from a storage trailer at a Center Avenue home. Cathy Kerr, homeowner, said someone between June 25 and 29 cut three locks and broke into the trailer. Among the items taken was a radio control model, 10-speed bike, golf clubs and train set.6:31 p.m. Monday — A Pittsburgh man and three Butler youths allegedly assaulted two other youths at the Christie Avenue playground. The victims, who police did not identify, suffered cuts and bruises.Charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief are Dean Valorie, 20; and the three juveniles who police did not identify.9:53 p.m. Saturday — Jonathan Fleske, 13, of Butler was injured when the bicycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck at East Brady and North Cedar streets.Fleske was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries to his left wrist, left leg and both knees.Police said Levi West, 18, of Butler, the pickup driver, told officers he did not see Fleske, who was wearing dark clothes and riding a bike without a headlight. Witnesses said West was obeying the speed limit; he was not cited.
6:02 a.m. Tuesday — A Slippery Rock University police officer was injured when a car collided with his police vehicle on Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.Officer Robert Martz, no age given, was taken with minor injuries to the Grove City Medical Center. His condition was not known this morning.Police said Martz was traveling east when he swerved his 2002 Ford Explorer to avoid the westbound car, driven by Logan Crow, 21, of Grove City, which had crested a hill and traveled into the eastbound lane.The car's front bumper hit the Explorer's driver side door. The Explorer then hit a guardrail. Neither SRU police officer Patricia Disher, a passenger in the Explorer, nor Crow was injured.1:06 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Rachel Giffin, 36, of Slippery Rock struck a line pole and a line locator pole, both owned by Dominion Peoples Gas, along Keister Road near Bradman Estates Road in Slippery Rock Township.3:50 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Joni Saper, 21, of West Sunbury struck a tree along Sunbury Road in Cherry Township. Saper was treated for minor injuries at the Grove City Medical Center. Police said Saper faces charges of driving too fast for conditions and careless driving.
8 a.m. July 4 — Michael Lauff, 22, of McDonald, Washington County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his sport utility vehicle struck a tree along Route 258 in Liberty Township, Mercer County. Lauff was treated for minor injuries at the Grove City Medical Center.
