Rettig 60th anniversary

Bertha and Alvin Rettig

Alvin and Bertha Rettig of Concordia Lutheran Ministries' Haven III apartments in Jefferson Township celebrated 60 years of marriage July 1 with a breakfast and family dinner at the Haven apartments, a worship service at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Cabot and a lunch with family and friends at Dingbats in Butler.

The former Bertha Herold married Rettig June 6, 1947, at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler.

They have four children, Marge Meindl of Raleigh, N.C.; Robert Rettig of Ijamsville, Md.; and Bonnie Isovitsh and Roger Rettig, both of Butler.

They also have 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Rettig retired from Armco Steel in 1983.

Mrs. Rettig is a homemaker.

The Rettigs are active members of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. They are past volunteers for the Marriage Encounter Program and Pre Cana marriage classes. They also began a Parkinson's Disease support group.
