Howard E. Keefer, 75, of Saxonburg, formerly of Irwin, died Friday evening at ButlerMemorial Hospital.

Born May 20, 1932, in Clinton, Westmoreland County, he was the son of Myrtle E. Keefer.

He was employed for 28 years by Allegheny Power Co. in Greensburg, where he was a real estate representative before his retirement in 1987.

He was a senior member of the American Right of Way Association and belonged to the Bethel Park Masonic Lodge 761 and the Syria Shrine in Pittsburgh.

He served during the Korean War and was assigned to the Strategic Air Command, 31st Fighter Escort Wing, 811thAir Police Squadron. He had assignments in England and Japan. After his discharge, he graduated from Coyne Electrical School and Allied Institute of Technology, both in Chicago.

He was also a member of the Clinton United Presbyterian Church in Saxonburg.

Surviving are his wife, Doris A. Kennedy Keefer, whom he married Aug. 26, 1972; two sons, Edward C. Keefer (Rebecca R.) of Long Beach, Miss., and Robert L. Keefer (Judy Ann) of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Anna R. and Erin K. Keefer of Long Beach, Miss., and Robert L. Keefer II of Clearwater, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annaruth Blystone Kennedy, who died Dec. 3, 1963.
