Maxine R. Fleming, 89, of the Masonic Village at Sewickley, formerly of Economy, died Friday.

Born March 5, 1918, in Schultz, Pleasants County, W. Va., she was a daughter of Arthur G. and Bertha M. Petty Carpenter.

She had been a housemother with the Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing for 22 years.

Mrs. Fleming was a member of the Baden United Methodist Church and a former member of the Ambridge Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are two sons, Gary L. Fleming Sr. and his wife, Nancy, of Sewickley and Virgil E. Fleming and his wife, Ellen, of Zelienople; a daughter, Judith K. Storar and her husband, Frank, of Cranberry Township; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A brother, Chester Carpenter of Magalia, Calif.; a sister, Arelda Miller of Waterford, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil H. Fleming; a son, Robert C. Fleming; a grandson, Larry Storar; three brothers, Harold, Arthur and Archie Carpenter; and two sisters, Edith Smith and Peryl Lane.

FLEMING — Services for Maxine R. Fleming, who died Friday, May 25, 2007, were Monday with her pastor, the Rev. Ed Bailey, officiating. Burial followed at the Sewickley Cemetery.
