Man lying on Rt. 38 dies when truck runs over him
CONCORD TWP — Edward James Smith III, 28, of Karns City was run over by a truck driven by Gerald L. Geil, 45, of Butler, about 1:56 this morning on Route 38 just north of Kuhn Road.
The state police report states that Smith, who was intoxicated, was lying in the middle of the road and was run over by Geil's truck.
Smith died at the scene from his injuries.
Neither Geil nor his passenger, Janice Geil, 57, of Butler, was injured.
The police are reconstructing the accident today as part of their investigation.
