Butler's Freedom Celebration
The Butler Freedom Celebration will take place all day July 4 at Butler Memorial Park. Here is a list of the scheduled times and activities:
• 9 a.m. — Frog jumping contest
• 10 to 11 a.m. — Fanny and Smiley the clowns act
• 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. — Chinese auction with 20 to 30 baskets
• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Car and motorcycle show and contest with between 180 to 230 vehicles
• 11 a.m. — All-American meal at the Diehl Shelter, includes a hot dog, chips, a beverage and a cookie for $1.25
• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Free Rita's Italian Ice samples
n 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. — Bocce demonstration and instruction
• 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. — Children's Activity Tent, includes sack races, watermelon spitting contests, face painting and many other games. All children will also receive a gift.
• 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Cheerleader dunking booth
• 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Bingo in the Miller Shelter
• 1 p.m. — 5th annual Quack Attack by the American Cancer Society
• 1 to 3 p.m. — Free Old Country Buffet samples
• 1:30 to 3 p.m. — Live auction under tent with around 20 items
• Dusk — Fireworks
• Popcorn and various beverages will also be available at the tent all day.
• Bands and musicians will also perform at the tent throughout the day including the Tamarack Lake Cloggers and area bands Escaping Grace and Out of Blue with 11-year-old Gabriel Wills Allison singing patriotic songs.
