Edna Weckerly of Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven I, formerly of Butler, celebrated her 85th birthday recently with a visit to family in Michigan.

Weckerly was born June 8, 1922, in Valencia. She married Howard Weckerly on Oct. 30, 1945.

She has two children, Ruth Hoon of Novi, Mich., and Marsha Wagner of Butler. She also has three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Weckerly worked during World War II at the Spaide Shirt Company in Butler. Her job entailed sewing Army dress shirts and medical parachutes. She retired in 1948.

She is a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saxonburg, where she has been a Sunday school teacher and served on the altar guild.

Her interests include crafts, sewing, volunteering and spending time with family.
