PORTERSVILLE — The Western Pennsylvania Bible Conference will host its 79th annual interdenominational meeting Sunday through June 24 at the Presbyterian Church of Portersville.
Speakers will be Steve Strauss and Buck Morton.
Strauss holds a Ph.D. in intercultural studies from Trinity International University and has served as SIM USA director since 2001. He spent 19 years doing mission work in Ethiopia.
Morton holds a master's degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and was a longtime host of the radio and television show "Gospel Crossroads with your Host, Buck Morton," which he founded. He is senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Portageville, Mo.
Sessions will be offered at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, 7:30 p.m. Monday through June 23, and 3 and 7:30 p.m. June 24.
The public is invited. Child care will be available. Donations will be taken to defray costs.
The church is located 15 miles west of Butler at the intersection of Route 19 and Route 488.

Christian Science practitioner John Tyler will give the talk "Beyond the Sixth Sense" at 2 p.m. June 23 at the Butler Public Library, 218 N. McKean St.The talk will focus on the capacity to see and hear spiritually and to gain healing through spiritually scientific prayer.Tyler is a former professor of political science at Princeton University and the University of Pittsburgh, a former research director of the Istituto Atlantico in Milan, Italy, and a recipient of the YWCA Racial Justice Award.A question-and-answer period will follow the talk.The event is sponsored by the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Butler.
Butler County religious organizations will team up to host Camp Creation for children ages 5 to 15 starting Monday.The free 8-week program runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on weeknights through Aug. 17 at the former Island Playground in Butler.The event includes food and games with a goal of "bringing religion to kids," Denny Offstein said.The event is sponsored by many local religious groups including Catholic, Jewish, Protestant, Lutheran and Methodist organizations.Those interested can register at the Bicycle Rodeo Friday or at the beginning of the evening any camp day.For more information, call the Grace at Calvary Lutheran Church at 724-283-0830.
