Tuesday — Two vehicles on Virginia Avenue were broken into overnight and ransacked; however, the owners told police it did not appear that any property was taken.3:40 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by John Tirk, 30, of Butler struck and sheared off a utility pole along Morton Avenue. Tirk, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for careless driving.

2:13 a.m. Monday — Ja'Net Sherkosky, 32, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8 South.

Monday — Two Butler County men are accused of selling a Beaver County man a car with the odometer rolled back, which showed the vehicle with 100,000 miles less than the actual mileage.Wilkins Mendez, 31, of Butler and Johanna Soto, 26, of Butler Township were arraigned on charges of theft by deception, odometer and vehicle title fraud, and conspiracy.Police said the defendants in March altered the odometer of a 1994 Honda Accord they sold to Steven Himber of New Brighton.Mendez, following arraignment, was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bond; Soto was released on a recognizance bond.Monday — About 2,000 pounds of scrapped cylinder valves were stolen between Saturday and Monday in a burglary at Portersville Sales and Testing on Route 19 in Portersville.

5:30 p.m. June 6 — An Arkansas truck driver was injured when his rig crashed on Interstate 80 in Allegheny Township, Butler County. The wreck forced police to close the highway for about 90 minutes.Police said Joel Saddler, 68, of Harrisburg, Ark., was traveling west when he lost control of his tractor-trailer; the vehicle struck a set of guardrails, traveled down an embankment and rolled onto its roof.Emlenton volunteer firefighters had to cut through the wreckage to free Saddler, who was taken with moderate injuries to Grove City Medical Center.
