Marching Orders

Buffalo Township's noncompetitive marching unit, the Buffalo Babes, make their way through the parade during the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company's annual carnival on July 16, 1970. This year's carnival, the 76th installment, is in full swing. Remaining events include a kiddee carnival matinee from 1 to 6 p.m. today and the fireman's parade at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, led by the Knoch High School Band. The parade is known for being the largest fire department parade east of the Mississippi River and includes fire trucks from the borough and surrounding communities. The carnival ends on Saturday with a midnight raffle drawing.
