Yarsky 90th birthday
Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven II resident Melvin Yarsky, formerly of St. Petersburg, Fla., celebrated his 90th birthday with a party June 2 in the Haven II dining room.
Yarsky was born May 31, 1917, in Pittsburgh. He married Gerda Nerlch Sept. 10, 1942, in Tucson, Ariz.
He has five children, Jo Ann Pick of Estero, Fla.; Susan Byrne and Kimberly Zandier, both of Pittsburgh; Cindy Morgan of Lafayette, La.; and Janet Lynn Rassau of Greenville, N.C. Two children are deceased.
Yarsky and his wife also have 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Before his retirement in 1980, Yarsky worked for the LTV Steel Company for 15 years. He was also a partner in Lindenwood Beer Distributing Company for 20 years.
Yarsky served in the Air Force as a bomber pilot during World War II.
He and his wife are members at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cabot.
