IN BRIEF
IMPERIAL — Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. plans to open 90 stores in California as part of its plan to have 800 stores nationwide in the next seven years or so.
The Findlay Township-based firm opened its 300 store earlier this year, but most of its stores are east of the Mississippi. It has none in California.
Dick's is targeting California because Californians have a very active lifestyle, said Edward Stack, Dick's CEO. Entry there could come any time, he said.
The company also hopes to put 60 stores in Texas and 40 more in Florida. Right now, Dick's has two stores in each of those states.
