Kasprzyk

Joseph Kasprzyk has graduated with high distinction from Penn State University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering, with honors from the university's Schreyer Honors College.During the past year, Kasprzyk served as vice president of the Chi Epsilon civil engineering honor society and senior adviser of the American Society of Civil Engineers' student chapter.He also won first place in a technical paper presentation at the Mid-Atlantic Conference of the American Society of Civil Engineers held at the University of Maryland.Kasprzyk, who is the son of Joseph R. and Deborah Kasprzyk of Center Township, is a 2003 graduate of Butler High School.In the fall, he will begin work toward a master of science degree in civil engineering at Penn State under a research assistantship in the field of water resources engineering.———

<B>Michaela Kimbell </B>graduated with bachelor of arts degrees in mathematics and music recently from Washington and Jefferson College. She graduated summa cum laude and was named valedictorian of her class.While at the college, she was named to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and was named a Scholar in Music. She received the Elizabeth Holmes Prize in Music, the Dr. Mariano Garcia '39 Award in Mathematics, the Clyde Shepherd Atchison Prize and the Nicholas C. and Josephine C. Tucci Memorial Scholarship Prize in Music.Kimbell was a member of the Delta Omicron honors fraternity in Music and the Delta Epsilon mathematics honorary.She also served as a peer-assisted learning math tutor, student conductor in four college concerts, member of the choir and Camarata Singers for four years, member of the church choir of First Presbyterian Church of Washington, Washington County, for three years and conductor of the children's choir of the Church of the Covenant for one year. She performed in a solo recital May 6.A lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, she is a 2005 graduate of Mars High School.The daughter of Jack and Barbara Kimbell of Gibsonia, she is employed as a director at the Treesdale Golf and Country Club's pool. She plans to pursue a master's degree in pure mathematics.———

<B>Lou Ann Sears</B> graduated from the University of Pittsburgh recently, receiving a doctoral degree in reading education.While at the university, she was a member of the Pi Lambda Theta International Honor Society and Professional Association in Education.The daughter of Floyd and Joan Osborne of Butler, she is a 1981 graduate of Butler County Community College, where she received an associate's degree in general studies, and a 1983 and 1989 graduate of Slippery Rock University, where she received a bachelor of science degree in secondary education, English and a master's degree in English.Sears is employed as the director of the Learning Resources Center and as an instructor of composition at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. She is a former instructor at Butler County Community College.Sears resides in Cabot with her husband David Sears.———

<B>Melisa Steighner </B>graduated magna cum laude from Bucknell University recently, earning a bachelor of science degree in physics.While at the university, she was a member of the Sigma Pi Sigma honors society.A2003 graduate of Butler High School, she is the daughter of Dave and Pam Steighner of Renfrew.Steighner has been accepted to Penn State University where she plans to pursue a master's degree in materials science and engineering. She has also accepted a research assistantship at the university.
