Schnur

Francis J. "Duke Schnur, 90, formerly of Herman Road, died Sunday afternoon at Sunnyview Home.

Born in Herman, Sept. 22, 1916, he was a son of Lawrence and Anna Osche Schnur.

He retired as a crane operator with Clair Steighner Excavating and Crane Service Co. after years. He formerly had worked at Bantam Car Co.

Mr. Schnur was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman. He also belonged to the Herman Volunteer Fire Department and the R.C. Men's Club.

Surviving are three sons and their spouses, Wayne (Barbara) Schnur, Dean (Loretta) Schnur and Gary (Ruby) Schnur, all of Herman; a daughter, Judy (Robert) Geibel of Herman; a brother, John Schnur of Butler; and two sisters: Anna Craig of Kittanning and Josephine Snyder of Seattle, Wash. He also is survived by 15 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

His wife, Ruth B. Michel Schnur, died July 25, 2006. They were married April 27, 1937. A great-great-granddaughter, two brothers and six sisters also preceded him in death.

<B>SCHNUR </B>— Friends of Francis J. "Duke" Schnur, who died Sunday, May 6, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Herman, with the Rev. John McCloskey, O.F.M., Cap., officiating.
