Mary E. "Betty" Getty, 80, of Main Street, Emlenton, died at noon Thursday at UPMC Northwest in Seneca after a brief illness.

Born June 21, 1926, in Saltsburg, Indiana County, she was the daughter of Charles D. and Elizabeth Wilson Lauffer.

Mrs. Getty was a member of the Emlenton Presbyterian Church and the Emlenton Area Over 55 Club. She also was a member of the Emlenton Medical Board.

She enjoyed playing bridge, flower gardening and bird watching.

Mrs. Getty was a graduate of Saltsburg High School, and in her earlier years, she had been employed at the Emlenton Water Co.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Blane (Heather Lee) Neely of Parker and Mrs. Paul (Holly A.) Archer of Grove City; four grandchildren, Mrs. Brice (Lee Ann) Kriebel of Chicora, G. Heath Neely of Parker, Stacy Glenn of Stoneboro and Brad Grimm of Clintonville, and four great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother-in-law, Joseph Getty of Emlenton; a niece, and a nephew.

Her husband, William C. Getty, whom she married Aug. 18, 1946, in Clarksburg, Indiana County, died Jan. 1, 1978. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lauffer.

<B>Getty</B> — Friends of Mary E. "Betty" Getty, who died at Thursday, May 3, 2007, will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Hile Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. Funeral services will follow at 2:15 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lori Danielson, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg.Memorial contributions may be made to the Venango County VNA Hospice.
