Anna Belle Hoffman, 97, of East Brady died Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 8, 1909, in Frogtown, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Richard James and Jennie M.C. Pfaff Hoffman.

She attended Slippery Rock Normal School, now Slippery Rock University, and began teaching at the Rabbit School in Sugarcreek Township in 1928. While teaching, she went on to obtain her 4-year degree at Slippery Rock. She later took post graduate classes at the University of Pittsburgh.

During her career, she also taught at the Wilson and the Joint schools, where she taught all eight grades. In 1944, she went to the Kittanning Elementary School and taught third grade until she retired in 1971.

Miss Hoffman was a member of the St. Paul Community Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and belonged to the Women's Guild.

She is survived by nine nieces and nephews, Jenny Lou Rajput of Ontario, Canada, James C. Hoffman of Baden, Edward G. Hoffman of East Brady, Lois Redmond of Punta Gorda, Fla., Alene Texter of East Brady, Beverly I. Snowa of Elizabeth City, N.C., Bryce N. Boyer of State College, Beth A. Klukaske of Columbus, Ohio, and Alan D. Boyer of Texas.

Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

<B>HOFFMAN</B> — Friends of Anna Belle Hoffman, who died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home</B>, Cowansville. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul's Community Church, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randall Forester officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.Donations may be made to St. Paul's Community Church.
