Petrone

Susan Carmichael Petrone, 76, of Worcester, Mass., formerly of Cranberry Township, died April 13 at the University Commons Nursing Center, Worcester.

Born in Washington, Pa., she was the daughter of Meldrum K. and Ann Elizabeth Lesser Carmichael.

She was a graduate of Butler High School. She then attended nursing school and worked as a nurse anesthetist at several Pittsburgh area hospitals for years.

Mrs. Petrone lived most of her adult life in Cranberry Township and moved to Worcester in 1995.

She was an avid craftswoman who enjoyed a variety of hobbies including knitting, beadwork, origami and sewing. She also loved music, old movies, mystery novels and animals, especially her dog "Scruffy."

She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Worcester.

Surviving are two daughters, Valentina Petrone Avery and her husband, Luis Avery, of Bolton, Mass., and Meg Nickerson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a grandson, Tucker Petrone Van Aken of Bolton/West Boylston, Mass.; a granddaughter, Nell Hartley and her husband, David Hartley and a great-granddaughter, Zoey Hartley, all of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Judith Glenn of Butler.
