10:03 p.m. Friday — Sharon Auth, 50, of Butler reported the theft of her Red East backpack from her unlocked vehicle while it was parked the previous night outside her residence at 209 Oak St. Her neighbor found the backpack's contents in his yard. The $30 bookbag is still missing.3:03 p.m. Friday — Denise Moesta, 28, of Butler reported the theft of a $40 Easton baseball bat, a $25 20-inch boys mountain bike and a green, $1,800 20-inch men's Iguana mountain bike from her porch at 145 Oak Street. She is unsure when the theft occurred.Friday — A 13-year-old girl was charged with bringing a weapon onto school property after allegedly carrying a folding knife with a 3-inch blade to the Broad Street Elementary School. The blade was discovered when she walked through the school's metal detector. The girl was suspended from the school.
5:10 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Tyler Rogacki, 22, of Sarver wrecked off Bear Creek Road in Winfield Township. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Rogacki was cited for accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property.Thursday — Someone threw nails in the driveway of Angie Jablonski, 36, at 333 Eyth Road in Oakland Township. Anyone with information about the incident should call police at 724-284-8100.Thursday — Someone stole six pieces of cut flag stone from the property of Clifford Eiler, 69, at 200 Daubenspeck Road in Parker Township.Thursday — Someone broke into the Route 422 residence of Deborah Swartzlander, 50, in Clearfield Township and stole about $2,560 worth of unspecified items between May 25 and 31. In a previous theft at the same residence, someone stole about $2,000 worth of items between May 20 and 23.5:30 p.m. Wednesday — Someone stole a gas weed trimmer, a truck battery, tools and 30 CDs from a vehicle owned by Robert Hartel Jr., 39, while it was parked at 175 Main St. in Petrolia. Anyone with information about the theft should call police at 724-284-8100.3:35 p.m. Wednesday — A motorcycle driven by Terence McClimans, 43, of Butler struck the rear of an SUV driven by Rebecca Sedlmeyer, 18, of Cranberry Township stopped to make a turn off Route 488 in Muddy Creek Township. McClimans was not wearing a helmet and received minor injury to his left arm. He was driven by a private vehicle to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment. None of the SUV's occupants were injured.Monday — Someone stole several items, including a firearm, from the residence of Robert Young, 64, at 300 Cola Lane in Concordia Township between May 26 and 28. Anyone with information about the burglary should call police at 724-284-8100.
12:50 a.m. Friday — Howard E. Garvin Jr., 40, of Kittanning was arrested as a fugitive from Maryland following a traffic stop on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township. Garvin also was charged with driving under suspension and several other traffic violations. He was arraigned before District Judge James Owen and jailed in Armstrong County Prison.7:05 p.m. Wednesday — An SUV driven by Michelle Claypoole, 24, of Natrona Heights struck the rear of a car driven by Mohan Patel, 53, of Pittsburgh on Route 356 in Freeport. Claypoole received minor injuries. No other injuries were reported. All of the occupants in both vehicles were wearing seat belts.
