Butler Memorial Hospital's Blood Bank recently received a donation of $2,879 from the now defunct South Butler school teacher's blood donor program. The money will be used to purchase new equipment for gel technology that helps determine blood types, antibody screens and cross matches.Teachers in the South Butler School District used to pay a $1 yearly fee and the money was used to cover expenses for their blood donation program. When Central Blood Bank became the blood supplier for BMH in the mid-1980s, donors were no longer required to be members of a program to make blood donations. The money remained in an account until remaining proceeds were donated to the blood bank at BMH.———
