9:35 p.m. Thursday — Brook Bailey of Center Township reported that her purse was taken from the Emily Brittain Elementary School playground on North Washington Street. The purse is white with hearts on it.Thursday — A Butler boy reported that his bike was stolen in the past several days from the yard at his North Chestnut Street home. The chrome Nitro Dyno model is valued at $100.10:22 p.m. Monday — Dathan Westover, 30, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 24-year-old city woman outside of a West Brady Street home. Westover is charged with simple assault.

11:30 p.m. Thursday — Thomas Vollrath, 50, of Portersville faces charges of simple assault and harassment following an argument with Chad Slate, 33, of Portersville, while the men were on Route 19 in Muddy Creek Township.10:30 a.m. Wednesday — A vehicle driven by Allison Jeffress, 46, of Erie struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township.

6:38 p.m. May 17 — A vehicle driven by Richard Eppinger, 77, of 119 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, was pulling onto Route 19 from Tollgate Road when the vehicle traveled into the path of another vehicle driven by Katherine Jarmin, 24, of 304 Creekwood Drive, Zelienople. Jarmin was taken to a hospital by Harmony EMS with minor back and knee injuries. Eppinger was cited for a violation of vehicles entering or crossing a highway.4:36 p.m. May 17 — Michael Newman, 19, of 308 W. Solomon Court, Zelienople, was attempting to "pop a wheelie" on his motorcycle on Route 19 when he lost control and struck a barrier. He was taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry by Harmony EMS with arm and leg injuries.10:20 p.m. May 16 — A vehicle driven by Correll Berresford, 38, of New Castle was traveling on Little Creek Road on the Interstate 79 overpass when his vehicle struck the rear of a tractor trailer truck driven by David Hovis, 53, of Volant, Mercer County. Hovis told police he had stopped because of several dogs on the road and Berresford was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the truck. No injuries were reported. Berresford was cited by police for careless driving.4:35 p.m. May 16 — A three-vehicle chain reaction collision occurred on Route 19 at the intersection of Lindsay Road. A vehicle driven by Lawrence Tumlin, 26, of Ellwood City collided with a vehicle driven by Eugene Magerl, 47, of 1307 W. Lancaster Road, Harmony, causing his vehicle to collide with a vehicle driven by Bethany Wendel, 26, of 505 Ridge Court, Cranberry Township. No injuries were reported. Tumlin was cited by police for failing to drive at safe speeds.
