Brenda Jo Frole Edwards, 55, passed peacefully from her residence to her heavenly home on Thursday after an incredibly brave and inspirational battle with ovarian cancer.

Born Oct. 24, 1951, in Butler, she grew up on Maryland Avenue and was the daughter of Eugene "Jan" and Josephine K. Rizzo Frole.

She greatly enjoyed the friendships forged while working for the Children's Rehabilitation Center and the Allegheny Valley Schools.

She leaves behind her children, Aaron Edwards and Angela Edwards; a brother, Gene Frole; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Marsha C. Hunka.

Ms. Frole Edwards was an avid outdoorswoman who enjoyed spending time at Moraine State Park with her black Labrador retriever, Jasmine.

She was creatively gifted, having pursued landscaping and gardening projects around her home as well as artistic design projects within it. She was a devoted mother to her two children, whom she cherished, and to the many pets for whom she cared over the years.

She was a dear soul whose gentle wisdom and compassion illuminated the lives of all who knew her. A woman of great faith, she taught her children through her example the meaning of unconditional love.

She approached the last leg of her journey on this earth as she did the rest of it — with an indomitable spirit and an appreciation of each day. She was the calm in the center of the storm, a rock that sustained her family.
