10:07 p.m. Thursday — Anthony J. McCardle was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and public drunkenness after police responded to a disturbance at 427 W. Penn St. McCardle allegedly shoved Cory Leitem, 26, into a door and hit her head. After police arrested McCardle, he kicked out the rear window of the police cruiser before being subdued with pepper spray. McCardle was treated by the city fire department medics and jailed in Butler County Prison on a total of $14,264 bond.Jason Lee Roberts, 20, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, public drunkenness and purchase, consumption, possession, transportation of liquor after police made a follow-up call to the same West Penn Street building at 10:37 p.m. Roberts allegedly arrived to the building and began walking into walls and tripping over furniture before drinking beer in front of police. At the police station, Roberts removed a plastic cigarette box containing several Xanax pills from his pants pocket.

8 p.m. Wednesday — Melissa Haffely, 16, was reported missing by her mother. The girl is described as being 5 feet 8 inches, 145 pounds, having brown hair and hazel eyes. She is believed to still be in the Butler area. She called her mother Thursday but did not reveal her location. Anyone with information as to where teen is should call police at 724-285-9600 or 911.State Police, Butler1:25 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Angelo Bartolomeo Jr., 76, of Ellwood City struck the rear of a car driven by Richard Smith, 55, of Worthington on Route 68 in Connoquenessing. The impact sent Smith's car into the rear of a minivan driven by Sarah Claypoole, 40, of Butler stopped to turn into a driveway. Barbara Bartolomeo, 75, of Ellwood City, a passenger in the first car, and Smith were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Angelo Bartolomeo and Claypoole also received minor injuries. All four people were wearing seat belts.Thursday — Someone stole a black wallet, a black change purse and an unknown amount of cash from Gloria Wolfe's Chevrolet Malibu while it was parked outside 216 Reiger Road in Franklin Township.9:20 p.m. March 31 — Charles Lavery, 37, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence, driving under DUI suspension and numerous summary traffic violations following a traffic stop on Eagle Mill Road in Connoquenessing Township.

4:07 p.m. Thursday — A Vogel Disposal garbage truck driven by Earl Hanna, age unavailable, of Grove City hit a mailbox and overturned into a ditch off Route 258 in Liberty Township. Hanna, who was wearing a seat belt, received a minor head injury.Thursday — Someone passed a counterfeit $5 bill at the Pine Township Wal-Mart pharmacy between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Police are investigating.Wednesday — Someone bought several unspecified items from the Internet using the credit card number of Bobbilyn Latimer of Volant between Tuesday and Wednesday.

11:20 p.m. Thursday — An SUV driven by Frank Smith, 35, of Hyde Park, Pa., struck a deer on Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township. Smith and his passengers were not injured.Thursday — Someone stole an unspecified number of 14-inch Pontiac aluminum rims and tires, 30 feet of 4-by-2 square stainless steel tubing and a portable cement mixer with a Briggs & Stratton engine worth a total of $520 from Dell Streckeisen's residence at 122 Whieldon Ave. in Perry Township between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 5 p.m. Thursday.
