Bill Cosby will speak at CMU commencement

PITTSBURGH — Comedian Bill Cosby will be in Pittsburgh Sunday, and while he'll likely get some laughs, this will not be a paying gig.

Cosby will deliver the keynote address at Carnegie Mellon University's commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday.

About 10,000 people are expected to attend the ceremony at Gesling Stadium, where 2,100 undergraduate and graduate degrees will be awarded.

Cosby's appearance came about after he had a conversation with university president Jared Cohon, university spokeswoman Teresa Thomas said.

Cosby, a Philadelphia native, will receive an honorary doctorate, but not a pay check. The university has a policy of not paying commencement speakers.
