Doug Orloski picked a great time to unleash the javelin throw of his life.

The Slippery Rock High senior launched a throw of 186 feet, 6 inches to win the District 10 title in the event Wednesday at Hickory High School and earn a PIAA bid.

His previous best throw was 165-8½.
