Hasek struggles in Red Wing loss
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Dominik Hasek was less than dominating in Game 4.
The Anaheim Ducks scored three times on their first eight shots against the Detroit goalie on Thursday night, and had four goals on 22 shots against him in a 5-3 victory over the Red Wings on Thursday night.
Still one of the NHL's top goalies at 42, Hasek gave the Ducks credit.
"They scored on their first shot and they scored on their first power play," he said. "To play without (Chris) Pronger, I believe was a great motivation for them, and we didn't use that advantage — unfortunately."
Tied 2-2, the Western Conference finals shifts to Detroit for the Game 5 on Sunday afternoon.
"I like our chances, but we need to be a more desperate team, do better on the power play and the penalty kill and pay attention to the smallest details," said Hasek, nicknamed "The Dominator."
Although he had decent chances to stop several of the Anaheim goals, including having a clear view of Corey Perry's slap shot from the top of the right circle that sailed past him just 1:37 into the game, Hasek's teammates certainly didn't blame him for the defeat.
"We had breakdowns defensively," Chris Chelios said.
