Ida and Dr. Carl Bean

Dr. Carl and Ida Bean of Concordia Haven III celebrated 65 years of marriage recently with a family dinner.

Bean married the former Ida Fondyce on April 18, 1942, at Ida's former home in Meadville.

They have two children, Mary Bates of Maple Shade, N.J., and John Bean of Midlothian, Va.

Carl, who retired as the Chief of Radiology from the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 1979, enjoys football, reading and writing. He belonged to Rotary for many years.

His wife was a registered nurse and homemaker for most of her life. She was a longtime member of the Butler Women's Club.

The Beans belong to Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church in Saxonburg.
