6:10 p.m. Saturday — Five people face charges in connection with a baseball bat-wielding fight at the Broad Street playground. No injuries were reported.Charged with simple assault are Derek Lang, 22, of Gibsonia, and two Butler boys, whom police did not identify. Darrin Hutchens, 36, of Butler was cited for disorderly conduct, and David Lynn Murray Jr., 28, of Butler was cited for harassment.Police seized three ball bats in the case.2 a.m. Saturday — An unidentified vehicle struck a car at Center Avenue and East Wayne Street, and did not stop after the crash. Charlene Zotter, 30, of Butler was driving the car that was struck.8:30 p.m. Friday — Jason Schindler, 33, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Joyce Barnes, 40, during a domestic dispute at her East Penn Street apartment. Schindler was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bond.

5 p.m. Sunday — Royal Tolbert Jr., 29, of Rochester, Beaver County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 422 near Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township.3:17 a.m. Sunday — Ryan Santelli, 22, of Valencia was arrested for suspicion of DUI after his car struck a railroad crossing sign along Meridian Road in Penn Township.1:15 a.m. Sunday — Sara Nicole Giustini, 16, reportedly ran away from her Saxony Estates home in Jefferson Township, following an argument with her mother.The girl was last seen wearing a pair of gray sweatpants, a purple T-shirt and white tennis shoes. Anyone with information about the teenager’s whereabouts is asked to call the barracks at 724-284-8100.12:55 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Richard Laszczynski, 40, of Butler struck another car on Route 228 near Park Road in Middlesex Township. Police cited Laszczynski for driving on the wrong side of the road. James Johns Jr., 40, of Valencia was driving the car that was struck in the crash.12:15 p.m. Saturday — Larry Massela, 54, of Slippery Rock is charged with simple assault and harassment, stemming from a dispute with a 37-year-old Slippery Rock woman at an Applewood Lane home in Slippery Rock Township.12:14 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Elizabeth Lee, 78, of Lockport, N.Y., struck a tree along Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Lee who was wearing a seat belt, was treated for unknown injuries at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.9:41 a.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Andrew Hogg, 17, of Slippery Rock rear-ended a car on Route 108 near West Park Road in Worth Township. Police cited Hogg for careless driving. William Kantz, 67, of Palm Harbor, Fla., was driving the car.Saturday — A 15-foot aluminum boat and aluminum ladder were taken from Rocks Road in Parker Township. Rodney Lipscomb of Sewickley, Allegheny County, owns the stolen property, valued at $1,520.10:20 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Kirk Tascarella, 37, of East Brady struck a guardrail on Route 68 in Fairview Township.9 a.m. Friday — A 17-year-old boy from Summit Academy reportedly escaped the Summit Township school while at a dentist’s office in Butler. Police charged the boy, from Vernon, Allegheny County, in juvenile court in connection with the escape.Friday — Assorted food items were taken from a concession building in a burglary between 1:05 and 10:30 a.m. at the Pioneer Drive-in on North Main Street Extension in Center Township.10:45 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Joseph Kelly, 23, of Sarver struck a utility pole and tree along Route 228, about one mile west of Freeport Road in Clinton Township. Kelly, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown by medical helicopter with moderate injuries to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.1:44 a.m. May 6 — Oscar Sasse Jr., no age given, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI at New Castle Road and Eighth Street in Butler.

State Police, MercerFriday — A 20-foot piece of heavy plastic drainage pipe and a 30-inch end section for the pipe were stolen between May 4 and Friday from Bestwick Road in Worth Township, Mercer County.The stolen property, valued at $775, was to be used to replace an existing drainage pipe under the road. Police note that due to the length and weight of the stolen items, a large truck or trailer would have been used in the theft.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the barracks at 724-662-6162.
