Horse workshop coming to Cranberry
What goes in must come out. That statement is true for all farm animals including horses. Nutrient management, as it applies to disposal of manure, is a concern for all horse owners.
To help local horse owners better understand the Pennsylvania Nutrient Management Program and its impact on small operations, the Butler and Beaver County Conservation Districts, in cooperation with Penn State Cooperative Extension, are presenting a workshop specifically for horse owners on May 24 at the Cranberry Township Municipal Building. The program will be offered at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
There is no charge for attending however registration is requested by May 23.
Topics to be covered include a discussion on the Act 38 Nutrient Management Regulations and how they affect horse boarding and other small operations, as well as discussion on best management practices that can have a huge impact on your farm and the environment. There will also be discussion on Ag Security Areas and the benefits to horse owners.
For a copy of the brochure and registration form, contact the Butler County Extension Office at 724-287-4761 or e-mail ButlerExt@psu.edu.
