Edna Mae "Tommie" Walter of Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community in Cranberry Township celebrated her 90th birthday recently with a family dinner at Butler Country Club.

The former Edna Mae Tomlinson was born April 18, 1917, in Pittsburgh. She married John Walter Feb. 14, 1942. He is deceased.

She has two daughters, Ann Martin of Butler and Betty Miller of Glenshaw. She also has four grandchildren.

Walter is the former executive director of the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, retiring in 1969. She served as a volunteer at Redstone Presbyterian Home in Greensburg for 25 years.

She was active in the Elderhostel program for 25 years, traveling to Scandinavia and Thailand. She is also a former president of the American Field Service, Hempfield Chapter.

Mrs. Walter belongs to First United Methodist Church of Greensburg. She enjoys music, reading and playing bridge, and she likes miniature schnauzers.
