Newell

The Rev. Joseph P. Newell, 85, of St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church in Cranberry Township died Wednesday.

Father Newell, a lover of all things Irish, was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, St. Vincent College and St. Vincent Seminary.

He was ordained Nov. 4, 1945, and served in the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh for 62 years.

He was the beloved brother of Mary and Anne Newell and the late John, Thomas and Francis Newell. He also is survived by eight nieces and nephews, and 22 great-nieces and great-nephews.

<B>NEWELL</B> — Visitation for the Rev. Joseph P. Newell, who died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, will be held at St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church in Cranberry Township from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday; and 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with a memorial Mass at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will also be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ferdinand with a Mass of Christian burial celebrated there at 11 a.m. Wednesday.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Retirement Fund for the Religious or Bishop's Education Fund, c/o Diocese of Pittsburgh, 111 Blvd. of the Allies, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.Arrangements are being handled by the <B>George A.
